Nutrition Diabetes Cancer

Dear Sir or Madam, I (m/30) am currently in the process of changing my diet. Over the past 15 years, I have behaved very unhealthily in regards to sugar and sweeteners. I consumed a lot of sweets, as well as a large amount of diet cola. In the last 5-7 years, this has worsened due to taking medication, as the medication triggered a craving for sweets. A daily sugar intake of 150 - 200 grams was the norm (2 bars of chocolate were not uncommon). I am aware that a recommended daily sugar intake is 65 grams. Now, my questions are:
- Despite my relatively young age, do I need to expect serious illnesses early on?
- Can I reduce the risk through changing my diet?
- Is it possible to have internal organs, such as the pancreas, examined for their condition? (Fear of pancreatic cancer, as well as other types of cancer)
- I am nearsighted and have around -5 diopters. Could this be related to sugar? (Diabetes - I have heard that blindness can occur with diabetes - should I be concerned about this?)

My highest weight was 105 kg a year and a half ago (at a height of 1.80m), and currently, I have lost weight to 90 kg.

I would greatly appreciate a response! Thank you very much!! Please provide an honest response, thank you!

Hello,

I would like to reassure you that if you change your lifestyle and dietary habits immediately, your body can recover and diabetes will not develop.

Please have your blood sugar levels, including your HbA1c value, checked at your next blood test.

Blindness in diabetes is a late consequence that occurs when diabetes has been present for years. It is not related to diopter number, but rather to damage to the retina.

Drink plenty of water (still), exercise for at least 30 minutes consecutively per day, preferably more, eat healthily, and give your body the chance to recover.

Do you have any questions about this? I am happy to help you.

All the best and don't worry, if diabetes has not been diagnosed yet, there are good chances of recovery.

Best regards,
Yours
