Lump

Hello,

A few weeks ago, I (m/40) had severe pain in my anus for about two days, I could hardly sit.

The symptoms subsided, but returned after a few days, then as lower back, coccyx, pelvic pain, which radiated into the thighs.

When I insert a finger into my anus, I can feel a small lump, which is slightly painful and also causes the above-mentioned pain.

What could this lump be?

Dear inquirer,

It sounds like you have hemorrhoids. Get a pain-relieving hemorrhoid cream and a donut cushion for relief from the pharmacy. Then, on Monday, visit your primary care physician to get a prescription for "Postericort" cream and a referral to a proctologist. Call different hospitals to see if they have a proctology department (you may need to call several).

Once you find a proctology department, schedule an appointment with a senior doctor for a consultation. Often, hemorrhoids can be treated locally. In smaller cases, the procedure can be done on an outpatient basis.

In the meantime, over the weekend, you can use Lidocaine cream and suppositories (Posterisan) and Ibuprofen for relief.

Get well soon,
Dr. D. Meyer
