Polyp surgery

Hello. A polyp was found in my uterus. The outpatient operation including scraping was on 6.1.2016 at the hospital. I have a bicornuate uterus. This is known and was also stated on the referral. Today (12.1) I had a follow-up appointment with my gynecologist. The ultrasound examination showed that the polyp is still there. Now at home, I just keep thinking about it. How can this happen? A new surgery date will be arranged in two weeks. That means another anesthesia and a week off work. I can't find peace now. How should I proceed?

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good evening,

This is extremely annoying! It seems that the operating doctor simply did not thoroughly review the documents.

If you want to claim compensation for the additional procedure, you should contact a lawyer specializing in medical law. They can then try to negotiate a settlement with the clinic. Lawsuits are very time-consuming and costly.

Since a mistake was obviously made here, I believe your chances are good. However, please direct any legal questions to our lawyers.

Fortunately, the second anesthesia does not pose a significant medical burden.

I wish you all the best!

Warm regards, Dr. Höllering
