Further fear caused by night sweats

Hello, unfortunately I am experiencing anxiety again (Lupus, male 24)! I actually thought that the symptoms were overcome, muscles and joints are feeling better (although still experiencing occasional overuse pain), hot flashes have not occurred for 2-3 days, only a little pain in the groin area remains (wondering if it's from lymph nodes?). However, I woke up this night with sweat on my forehead, which is something I'm not used to! My legs were also a bit sweaty and the sheets were slightly damp, but my upper body was dry and overall not dripping wet, just a bit damp. Could this really be related to Lupus? I never had this during my Lupus phase... Also, the holidays are coming up and I won't be able to get a blood test for another 5 days... Can you please reassure me? Is it true that if night sweats (related to leukemia) are present, the lymphatic form is more common than the myeloid form? Could I possibly have AML? Would it have worsened significantly in the past 10 days? Final question: Is night sweats only considered pathological if accompanied by a fever? I haven't had a fever so far! Thank you in advance!

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good day,

Your fears are slowly taking on compulsive traits! In the last few days, it has become significantly warmer, so it's no wonder if you sweat sometimes! This has nothing to do with night sweats in leukemia, where you have to change your T-shirt.

With leukemia, sweating does not reveal the type of leukemia, and you can sweat without having a fever. But you only get the B-symptoms, including night sweats, after the changes in your blood count, not within a week.

A lymphatic leukemia leads to palpable lymph nodes.

Please stop worrying about leukemia!

Warm regards, Dr. Gehring
