Joint pain

Hello... unfortunately, it's me again, the 24-year-old lupus patient! By the way, the petechiae on the palate have become paler and disappeared over the days, and the gum has also calmed down! But today while working, the next uncertainty... with a strange movement, my left wrist started hurting, reminding me strongly of the joint pain from 2 years ago caused by lupus before the therapy! After that, I noticed it symmetrically on the right side too, but only very slightly, as well as in my shoulder! I haven't been taking Quensyl for 2 weeks, I have to get it tomorrow, but I am still taking 5mg of cortisone and Aza! It surprises me that it happened so suddenly... I read something about leukemia on the internet again, otherwise I'm fine, but still, your opinion would be important to me!

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Hello,

I don't understand why you are now thinking of leukemia right away: The most absurd things can be read on the internet! IF leukemia causes pain, it would be diffuse bone pain and not localized joint pain!

Of course, lupus can also irritate joints, but that should also be more painful and accompanied by signs of inflammation in the blood. Usually, a lot more joints, even smaller ones, are affected.

So, I would suggest remaining optimistic for now and waiting to see if it's just overloading; if more joints start to hurt, then investigate for signs of inflammation in the blood.

But leukemia is the least of my concerns!

Sincerely, Dr. Gehring
