Sports Marathon training after thrombosis

Hello,
just before completing the marathon training, I was diagnosed with a thrombosis in my left calf. (Saturday).
This was diagnosed yesterday (Tuesday) by the vein specialist, treated with blood thinners and compression stockings (during the day), which I should do for 3 months. Then there will be a follow-up appointment.
The pain is already much better and walking is almost possible.
Can I already do strength training for the upper body in the gym if I don't strain the legs with it?
When would light jogging normally be possible again if nothing hurts?
I assume with normal CEP compression stockings for jogging, and then back to the compression stockings?
From when can / may one, if everything is pain-free, start marathon training again or even complete one?
Thank you for any information.
Hello,
First of all: All my explanations assume that it is really only a thrombosis in the calf, without the back of the knee and without the thigh.
Your question:
Can I already do strength training for the upper body in the gym if I don't strain my legs with it?
Answer: You can start now, but be careful, NO abdominal press! And that's not so easy in upper body training. Abdominal press prevents the venous return to the abdomen, which is bad in your case - wait 6 weeks and then only with stockings until the check-up after 3 months, then we'll see.
Your question:
When would light jogging normally be possible again if nothing hurts?
Answer: You should wait about 6 weeks for jogging, but you can walk immediately, no matter what pace and duration. The difference is in the impact (when jogging) or the even movement when walking.
Your question:
So I should wear normal CEP compression stockings for jogging, and then switch back to support stockings?
I'm not familiar with CEP. In the first three months, you should wear compression stockings all day.
Your question:
When can/should one start or complete marathon training again if everything is pain-free?
This should be decided individually based on the findings after about 3 months. Usually, with a pure US TVT, everything is allowed again after 3 months, but not everything without stockings. It depends on the findings.
Best regards
