Side effects of Copaxone or relapse

I have had MS for about 10 years. It was about because all symptoms were clinically inconspicuous and it was always said to be psychosomatic until I could hardly walk anymore. Then the result was MS. Since then, I have mistakenly had almost one relapse after another. For about 5 months now, I have been receiving Copaxone as a basic therapy. Since then, I sometimes feel really bad. Tooth and back pain, red burning skin at the injection sites for days, with "lump formation." I am ultra nervous and inattentive. Yesterday I skipped Copaxone. I felt much better. Yesterday I injected again and immediately broke out in a sweat, my right leg stiff, tingling all over my body. Today I am totally depressed and all my limbs are slowly becoming stiff, adding tremors and joint pain. I am currently thinking, relapse or just what I already know from injecting Copaxone?! What to do?!

Good evening,

It sounds like you are experiencing severe side effects to Copaxone. Please discuss this with your treating neurologist so that either the dose can be adjusted or a different medication can be given.

In the meantime, there are some new medications available that can be helpful for relapsing-remitting MS.

Do you have any questions about this? I am happy to help.
All the best and a speedy recovery!

Kind regards,

Dr. K. Hamann
