Muscle twitches

Hello,

I have been experiencing weakness in my right arm for the past 2 months. Unfortunately, I only came across ALS on the internet. For about a month now, I have also been experiencing muscle twitches all over my body, mostly in my upper arms and thighs. I have seen 2 neurologists, but this was before the muscle twitches started, and all tests (EMG, NCV, EEG) came back normal. In the last blood test a week ago, my CK levels were elevated at 320 (190), but LDH levels were normal.

Now I am worried that I may have ALS and the neurologists didn't see it because it might be in the early stages.

My liver and kidney values were all normal. I can lift a 10 kg dumbbell 15 times without any problem.

Should I see a neurologist again?

I am 1.87m tall and weigh 115 kg. I naturally also have some stress, like almost everyone in life.

Thank you in advance

Best regards

Good day, I am happy to help you further.

The elevated CK values correspond to the described muscle activities (twitching). In any case, you should undergo further neurological and internal examinations. An MRI of the skull can also contribute to further investigation of the cause.

Please also have muscle diseases examined, preferably by an internist. You don't have any kidney problems, do you? Are you taking any medications (cholesterol-lowering drugs could be a possible cause of muscle problems)?

I am happy to help you further.

Kind regards,

Dr. K. Hamann
