Ask a doctor on the topic of Gynecology

Pregnancy

Dear expert team,

I would like to ask if there is any evidence known to you that suggests that the probability of getting pregnant for couples who have sex for the first time together is higher than that of couples who have had sex more often. In short: Whether first-time intercourse leads to a higher chance of pregnancy than subsequent intercourse.

Thank you

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good evening,

There is no evidence for this, as it is not necessarily the case that the first sexual intercourse has a higher likelihood of resulting in pregnancy than subsequent ones.

I would be interested to know how you came up with this question!

Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
