Armpit

Yesterday, by chance, I discovered a movable, smooth, firm knot in my armpit. It is painless and measures 2.5x3 cm in size. It is not deep. The skin is neither red nor swollen.
I am completely freaking out.
Aren't lymph nodes usually deeper?
Thank you in advance for your response!
M.
Good day,
From a distance, it is of course impossible to determine what it is. If the lump is so large, but still movable and not grown together with the skin above it, that initially speaks against something serious. However, please carefully feel the breast to see if you can feel a lump.
Frequently, atheromas, which are blocked and stagnant sebaceous glands; can also be considered here.
Please do not let Sunday be ruined and on Monday, go see your primary care physician first. If the fear is too great, you can also contact the emergency medical service of your city (which can be obtained by calling 116117) for an initial assessment.
I wish you all the best!
Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
