Abortion with Xarelto

Thank you for your prompt response. Two follow-up questions:
1) Should I switch to a different medication, such as Heparin, during this time? Or is it okay to not take any blood thinners for 5 days?
2) My doctor here has suggested termination, do you agree with that?

Good morning, you're welcome. If there should be anything else open, feel free to ask a follow-up question at no charge.
1.) I would inject Heparin during this time, yes. You are not taking Xarelto for fun and therefore need anticoagulation.
2.) In the package insert it says: "Safety and efficacy of Xarelto in pregnant women have not been established. Animal studies have shown reproductive toxicity (see section 5.3). Due to the potential reproductive toxicity, intrinsic risk of bleeding, and proven placental transfer of Rivaroxaban, Xarelto is contraindicated during pregnancy." Translation: It is likely that Xarelto may harm the embryo, not to mention it could harm you through severe bleeding. Therefore, termination unfortunately is recommended.
