hCG value low

Good day,
I have been overdue since December 30, 2014 and my hCG levels were 126 on January 5 and 357 on January 12. Is it normal for them to rise so slowly? The Clearblue digital still shows 1 to 2 weeks. I also have light reddish to brown bleeding that only goes away if I lie down. I should mention that I had a conization in 2010 and an ectopic pregnancy in 2012.

Good day dear questioner,

Even though there are strong fluctuations in how quickly the hCG rises, this is already somewhat low. In connection with the other symptoms you mentioned, I would advise you to see your gynecologist as soon as possible. Your symptoms could indicate that there are either problems with the implantation of the egg, the development of the corpus luteum is not occurring normally, or the placenta is not being built correctly (or in the right place). In the case of a previous ectopic pregnancy, it is of course necessary to check if the fertilized egg has actually reached the uterus.

However, this cannot be done online. But you should not be overly worried or panic. In this early stage, there are very rarely major complications such as heavy bleeding. The 95% rule applies, meaning if everything is not 100% correct, the body spontaneously releases the embryo and starts a new cycle.

It could therefore result in a kind of "period". But it is also recommended to check with an ultrasound to see if the uterus has fully regenerated and nothing is left behind.

Please visit your gynecologist.

With best regards and best wishes, Dr. R. C. Berg
