Ovarian cyst

Hello!

I have the following problem:

I suffer from unexplained abdominal pain, sometimes severe, nausea, pressure in the abdomen, palpitations, etc. My primary care doctor performed an ultrasound and diagnosed an ovarian cyst. I was then referred to a gynecologist who conducted a vaginal ultrasound and said everything was fine - no fibroids, no cysts, nothing. After about 12 months, my primary care doctor performed a CT scan of the abdomen for safety reasons and the ovarian cyst was visible again.

How is it possible that the gynecologist sees nothing or what else could it be?

I have had an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate for a few years (fluctuating between 30 and 70). CRP has always been normal.

I am now very uncertain and wonder if the high erythrocyte sedimentation rate could be related to this cyst?

Thank you for your response.

Good evening,

the Blusenkung is a very unspecific parameter and can also be elevated in such changes, including inflammation. Since your gynecologist did not see anything in the ultrasound, I would recommend getting a second opinion from another gynecologist for safety. Please bring the findings of the CT scan for the second opinion.

Overall, it is important to know that ovarian cysts can occur every month, every ovulation "comes from an ovarian cyst." It is understandable that they may be seen at times and not at others. However, please seek a second opinion.

Best regards,

Dr. Schröter
