Ask a doctor on the topic of Gynecology

Koni

Hello, I already asked last week because a pap 4a was unexpectedly diagnosed with me. Last Thursday I had a conization and curettage. The whole procedure was performed by the professor himself, including a colonoscopy during the surgery. The doctor said that the changed tissue was quite small and he assumes that we will not see each other again. Can it already be determined whether it is very serious based on the size of the change? I know that I have to wait for the biopsy, but is it true that he can already give an assessment based on the size of the changed tissue? Best regards

Dear questioner,
An experienced doctor can already estimate based on the appearance of the removed tissue whether it was something malignant, but unfortunately, this is always just an "estimate". One can only rely on it once the findings have been examined by a pathologist.

The fact that the professor is already so sure is a good sign, I hope his feeling is correct.

Best regards, c. Welsch
