period

I have had my period for almost 2 weeks now, but it's not very heavy, more on the medium side. I have been using the contraceptive implant for 2 years now and it needs to be replaced next year. I am also taking 30 mg of citalopram. In September, I went to the gynecologist who thoroughly examined me, performed a smear test, and everything was fine. I am really scared now, what should I do?
Good evening,
These Implanon rods can indeed lead to such prolonged menstrual bleeding, but any menstrual bleeding that lasts longer than 14 days must be urgently clarified. Especially hormonal disorders that can originate from the ovaries.
I do not see Citalopram as problematic here.
Please get examined and further clarified.
Such a long-lasting bleeding leads to anemia, a condition of blood deficiency, which robs you of strength, making you tired and burdened.
Do you have any questions about this? I am happy to help.
All the best and a speedy recovery!
Best regards,
Dr. K. Hamann
