Growths in the cyst

Hello, I am 51 years old and have had cysts and fibroadenomas in my breast for many years, which are regularly examined by ultrasound and mammography every 2 years. So far, nothing abnormal has been found. Now there is a growth visible in a quite large cyst on the right side, which also showed blood flow on ultrasound. I am scheduled for a biopsy next week. The cyst itself has shrunk compared to last year, but this growth was not there before. I am now very afraid that it might be cancer, what is the likelihood? Is the presence of blood vessels in the growth more indicative of malignancy? A mammogram was also done yesterday and it was normal.
Thank you and best regards
Hello,
It is certainly not possible to give exact probabilities. In general, statements without the exact findings of the ultrasound examination are not possible. Increased blood vessels usually indicate cell growth, which in turn could indicate malignancy. However, the emphasis here is on "could". Unfortunately, we have to wait for the results of the biopsy. Speculations do not make sense. One thing is very important though: you have been regularly attending check-ups, so that changes can be detected and clarified early on. Therefore, even in the case of malignancy, the therapy is usually timely and therefore associated with complete healing and lesser extent.
I wish you all the best for the biopsy and a good outcome. Try not to worry too much.
