Hello, I have a question. I am in the 25th week of pregnancy and I went to my gynecologist today. He said that I have pregnancy poisoning because my blood pressure was 158/88 and then when measured a second time, it was 156/76. I weigh 76 kilograms and have gained 3 kilograms in the last 4 weeks. I also have been experiencing mild pain on the right side of my stomach, which I read online could be a sign of pregnancy poisoning. So, my question is, do I have pregnancy poisoning?
Dear Inquirer,
I cannot make a definitive diagnosis, but high blood pressure is a very serious warning sign! High blood pressure during pregnancy is always potentially related to preeclampsia, a condition of pregnancy-induced hypertension. Right upper abdominal pain could be an additional indication of liver involvement. However, blood needs to be taken and tested in the laboratory for confirmation. Preeclampsia often presents with protein in the urine. Did your gynecologist find this as well?
Preeclampsia is potentially dangerous for both you and your baby, so it is important to strictly follow the instructions of your gynecologist. It may also be beneficial to seek care at a larger hospital, such as a university hospital. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask!
