Exhaustion

Hello,
I have a problem. For several days, I have been suffering from sleep disturbances, fatigue, headaches, dizziness, palpitations, and nausea. I also cannot motivate myself for anything, have poor concentration, and feel nauseous and unwell as soon as I think about work. I feel drained and exhausted.
My problem started when I received my termination notice. My boss also tells every customer that we have to close, which really upsets me.
My question now is, I would need a short break to gain some distance, but unfortunately I no longer have any vacation days left. Could I get a sick leave for this reason?
Thank you for your response.
Dear questioner,
The situation you are in is mentally stressful for you. You are surely aware that your situation will not be changed simply by a sick note. I also suspect that, as intense as your reaction to the situation is, it is unlikely to be resolved with just a short break and will not correct itself. You may need a sick note, but even more so a referral to a psychotherapeutically skilled doctor. If you can answer questions such as: What do I do after the closure of the company, How do I deal with my fear of being unemployed for a longer period, I have the following career perspectives... etc. without fear and without physical discomfort, or at least be able to address them freely, you will feel better. However, I believe that you should also seek therapeutic support. You need to learn how to answer the questions about what comes next and how to move forward, and to develop a perspective for yourself. Therefore, try to consult a medical psychotherapist, who may also provide you with a sick note if necessary.
With kind regards,
Dr. R. Berg
