Ear pressure and tinnitus

Hello,
I quit before Christmas because it has become unbearable at work and I am starting a new job on 01.02.20. My boss threatened me before Christmas that if I called in sick for the remaining weeks, I would be in for a surprise. I had a few days off for Christmas and New Year, but since Christmas my ear has been blocked and whistling, with no organic cause found. Since today, I have stomach pains, I went to the ENT again and he couldn't find anything except for a slight redness. I was given a sick note for today and have to go back to work tomorrow. The sick note today was received very negatively. Thinking about the next three weeks makes me feel sick and dizzy, my ear is whistling and I could just cry. What can I do?

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Hello,

If you have a psychologically induced tinnitus and a nervous stomach disorder, you are not fit to work. In this case, the primary care physician, who is responsible for these psychologically induced disorders, should definitely still issue a sick note for you.

You have nothing to fear about any surprises! Your boss can only involve the Medical Service, and they will simply confirm the sick note given the level of suffering. Then your boss's hands are tied, and you could be on sick leave until the start of your new job without any problems.

Please speak with your primary care physician as soon as possible, who can then also take care of the therapy.

Best regards, Dr. Gehring
