I have a question regarding the circulatory system. In the last 4 days, I collapsed for no apparent reason. I suddenly felt dizzy, my heart was racing, and then I blacked out; until I came to again. I was unconscious the two times, I don't know for how long. The second time was this morning when it happened. I am now scared and don't know what it is. I am 24 years old, of normal weight, and female. Thank you in advance for a response.
Dear inquirer,
The causes of a collapse are diverse. It can indeed be due to the circulatory system (low blood pressure/hypotension), or from the heart (too fast or too slow pulse, or a pause (asystole), a conduction disorder). Diseases of the nervous system are also possible (seizures, systemic diseases). Disorders in hormone or electrolyte balance are rare but also occur. I could continue this list and you might already suspect it.... An examination by a doctor with blood tests, blood pressure measurement, and heart examination is necessary.
Depending on which cause is most likely, the countermeasures will also vary. But this must be done offline in this case.
With many warm regards, Dr. R. Berg
