Inflammation on the eyelid, red itchy pustules.

Dear Sir or Madam,

For the past six months, I have had consistently more or less noticeable red pustules around both eyes (see picture). I have already seen two ophthalmologists and a dermatologist about this. Herpes or a viral or bacterial infection have already been ruled out. Apart from cortisone cream, which has made my skin very sensitive, there have been no other treatment ideas suggested. I know that the causes can be varied (I am allergic to house dust and pollen, among other things), but I cannot recall any specific circumstances at the time of the outbreak.

I would be grateful for any suggestions on what this could be (one ophthalmologist mentioned not to refer to it as an "eczema") and what treatments could be tried.

Hello,

After infectious diseases caused by viruses or bacteria have been ruled out, a fungal swab should be performed. If this is positive, in addition to cortisone, an antifungal should be used.

Furthermore, contact dermatitis should also be ruled out if you use products such as eyelid creams or makeup. In this case, it is not always necessary for the affected area to come into contact with the creams or makeup.

In this case, cosmetics should be checked for allergens in you.
