Toviaz prescribed instead of reduced urinary urgency now permanent urinary urgency.

Due to my age, I take Tamsulosin (Tamsublock) 4mg, no carcinoma. The urologist prescribed Toviaz 4mg to reduce the urge to urinate. Two days ago, I took one tablet. Now I have a constant urge to urinate; difficulty/pain when passing urine, only dribbles and very little urine output. Can I temporarily take multiple Tamsulosin tablets throughout the day to be able to urinate normally again? I am no longer taking Toviaz.
Dear inquirer,
Try to manage with 4mg for several days in a row first. If there is no improvement after 1 week, you can also increase to 8mg. A sudden increase is always dangerous, as a counter-regulation of the body could be the cause of your problems.
What diagnosis did your urologist make? Prostate volume? Did you have any other complaints after taking the medication (stomach-intestine, etc.)?
There are indeed cases where Tamsulosin does not help at all.
If you experience a worsening of symptoms after taking 4mg compared to non-medication, consult your urologist. Maybe he will switch you back to Toviaz.
All the best to you,
Dr. D. Meyer
