The skin burns when the fungus has already caused a strong inflammation, or if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient Chlorhexidine, which is contained in the cream.

If the skin is not strongly inflamed, you should switch to a product without Chlorhexidine. If it is, it will improve in a few days because the cortisone in the cream quickly fights the inflammation.
