Tamsulosin

Does the drug Tamsulosin, which improves urination in cases of enlarged prostate, also have negative effects on potency and cause erectile problems? I read this on the internet. I have been taking it for a while.
Kind regards

Dear inquirer,

Tamsulosin is a medication that specifically targets the prostate, and unlike previous medications such as Doxazosin, it is better tolerated and has fewer side effects. Side effects of this class of medications include effects on blood pressure, which could theoretically have an impact on potency. Direct effects on potency and libido, as seen with 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (e.g. Finasteride) are not known.

With Tamsulosin, you already have a very good preparation, where effects on potency and libido are extremely rare.

If you experience erectile dysfunction, your urologist will be happy to help you find suitable medications. Especially in the case of benign prostatic hyperplasia, it is important to choose the right medication.

I hope this information helps you.
