Stove finding EEG

Hello, I am very concerned about the following findings in Female, 33: EEG: "There is a well-defined regular 1 of a focal finding on the left, already before hyperventilation 1.5 seconds duration. A few days later: Sleep-deprived EEG: Also well-pronounced 11/s alpha baseline activity, again recurring to 7 rush 2 seconds lasting rhythmic slowing on the left temporal, partially with steeper transients, unfortunately artifacts due to movement and/coughing, no signs of epileptiform patterns as far as assessable. 1/s alpha baseline activity with danteilung ilation occurrence of generalized dysrhythmic. Urgent MRI recommended. Is a tumor a likely cause here or what other causes could the findings have? (Epilepsy, diabetes, infection?) The woman sometimes becomes unconscious in stressful situations.

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good day,

It does indeed appear that brain activity in the left temple is slowed down and not rhythmic. Unfortunately, this is indeed an indication of a tumor, as it is a localized area.

Epilepsy causes other changes that have not been found, and there are no other logical explanations for this finding other than a tumor. A large scar could cause a similar finding, but you have not mentioned any injury.

BUT: There are many benign brain tumors, and surgery can be successful in the temple area.

Therefore, it is important to quickly plan an MRI, but please do not lose hope!

I wish the patient all the best.

Warm regards, Dr. Gehring
