Psychopharmaceuticals for inner restlessness

I have been taking Cipralex for 2 years for anxiety disorders, severe post-traumatic stress disorder, lack of drive, and depression. At the beginning, Cipralex 10 mg worked well. However, afterwards I felt that it didn't improve much, even though I have been taking 20 mg for a year now. I am currently very nervous, restless, and anxious, and I have trouble sleeping. At the same time, I also need a medication for drive and against apathy. Can two medications be combined? What about Trazodone for restlessness and Trevilor for anxiety? It is also important that I do not gain any more weight. I have gained 20 kg due to menopause. I hope you can help me. I am very desperate because of the inner restlessness. Best regards.

Good morning dear Mrs. Gergeleit,

It is quite possible and also common to combine medications, especially psychotropic drugs, to achieve the desired effects.
Trevilor (Venlafaxine) and Trazodone can be well combined, but Trazodone and Cipralex (Escitalopram) from the same class of active substances are not compatible.

Please speak to your treating physician about whether switching from Cipralex to Trazodone would be beneficial for you and if combining it with Trevilor is an option for you. It may be beneficial to combine a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (Cipralex or Trazodone) with a Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor. However, this should be assessed and prescribed by your treating physician on site.
