Citalopram-NW

Hello,

for 5 days I have been taking Citalopram 10 mg and in two days I am supposed to increase the dose to 20 mg. I have now read the latest instructions and restrictions stating a maximum dose of 40 mg, and I am now wondering if this is the right medication for me, as it has been shown to prolong the QT interval in recent studies. I am a 44-year-old female suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder with depression. My uncle, who is my mother's brother, died of sudden cardiac death at the age of 47.

My side effects on Citalopram are limited to some diarrhea and sleep disturbances with restlessness and slight increase in heart rate in the second half of the night. Would you advise me to switch medications, or should I stick with it?

Kind regards and thank you for your response!
