Dizziness

Hello, I, female, 54 years old, have had episodes of positional vertigo in the past, and was even hospitalized in the neurology department in 2015 because of it.
For the past few days, I have been experiencing dizziness again, which occurs when I turn, bend over, sit up or roll over in bed. However, this time it is not directly spinning vertigo, but I feel really strange in my head, lightheaded and dizzy. After a few seconds, it goes away. Could this still be positional vertigo? Would dizziness caused by circulation problems in the brain also occur with changes in position, or can I be reassured that it would present differently?
Thank you and regards,
Amy

Hello,

The difference between positional vertigo and vertigo caused by circulation disorders is the dependence on movement. Since you can obviously trigger or exacerbate the vertigo by changing your position, circulation-related vertigo is ruled out. Therefore, I assume it is a case of positional vertigo again and hope that you have learned exercises to work against it.

Wishing you all the best!

Warm regards, Dr. Gehring
