How is it transmittable in the genital area?

Is genital herpes only transmitted through the fluid in the blisters?
Or can it also be transmitted through vaginal discharge?
So, is one contagious only when having my symptoms, or only through direct contact with the blister fluid?
Good evening,
The triggering herpes virus is transmitted through contact with the blisters. However, these blisters can also be deep in the vagina, making them not necessarily visible, and the discharge can also transmit active viruses. Therefore, using a condom is absolutely essential.
This only applies if the partner has an acute infection with blisters. The type 2 virus, which usually triggers the infection, remains in the body for a lifetime but can remain dormant for years. If there are no symptoms or blisters, there is no need to worry about infection.
Sincerely, Dr. Gehring
