Pain in the leg

I noticed a small lump next to my knee about 2 weeks ago, which was painful to touch. Just before that, I was jogging as usual. The pain lasted for about a week. My primary care doctor referred me to a phlebologist, who was also unsure and sent me for an MRI, but I won't get an appointment until next year.
For the past week, the lump has not been painful and is not as noticeable. However, I have been experiencing wandering pain in my thigh, knee, calf, and buttocks, particularly when sitting. I am mostly pain-free when in bed or walking. The pain feels like something is tight and cannot be loosened. I have been taking magnesium, Voltaren, and Ibuprofen. My primary care doctor is perplexed. What could be causing this? Who else could I turn to?
I am flying abroad for work next week and I am afraid of the long flight where I will only be able to sit.

Hello, the lump on the leg could be a small ganglion, which can develop due to overuse and sometimes disappear spontaneously - so wait and see. As for the pain in the leg, I suspect the cause may be related to the spine. However, I would not recommend taking ibuprofen and Voltaren together, but rather try Arcoxia to reduce the pain. Another important step would be to have an ultrasound examination of the leg veins, especially since you will be traveling by plane. Any venous issues should be ruled out. All other matters can be addressed upon your return. Best regards, Dr. med Bartels.
