High pulse

In the morning after waking up, my heart rate is 60. During the day, my heart rate is always between 80 and 110. My blood pressure is normal, so not elevated. Should I be worried? I am 29 years old and female. I exercise regularly and otherwise feel good.

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Hello,

It would be interesting to know if you have a stressful or physically demanding job. For a stress test, these elevated values are completely normal. Since wearables and sports watches are unreliable in recording, I would recommend getting a 24-hour ECG done at some point. This way, you can see when and under what stress the pulse increases. If that makes sense, there is no reason to worry.

Serious causes such as an overactive thyroid could also raise the pulse in the morning.

I wish you all the best!

Sincerely, Dr. Gehring
