Chronic elevated uric acid

Hello,
I am 36 & male. About 4 years ago, I had a gout attack in my big toe joint. It was treated with medication over a few days. I have not had any further acute attacks since then. However, I always have slightly elevated uric acid levels in my blood tests. With a reference maximum of 7.2, they are always in the range of 7.8-8.2.
Should chronically elevated levels like these be reduced with medication? How much concern should I have regarding a chronic course or involvement of the kidneys, etc.?

Good evening,

It is possible to permanently lower uric acid levels with medication. However, it would be much better if you were to adjust your diet and lifestyle so that your uric acid levels are within the normal range. I assume that your family doctor has already advised you accordingly: Avoid red meat, especially pork, and especially no sausage!!! Drink enough water, but no alcohol, and get enough exercise. This way, your kidneys will also be flushed, which is good for them. What does your family doctor say about this, if he consistently finds elevated levels during check-ups?

Best regards,
Dr. Schaaf
