Change in blood pressure medication
Question about Candecor blood pressure medication
I am 74 years old, previously completely healthy, had a minor accident with eye injury 6 months ago. After that, I had 3 surgeries at the eye clinic. High blood pressure was detected during this time, 140/160/170 to 80/90.
For the past 6 months, I have been taking 16 mg of CANDECOR and 5 mg of Amlodipine. Since then, my blood pressure has been in the normal range, 130/140/80.
2 months ago, I stopped taking Amlodipine and now only take 16 mg of Candecor in the evening.
Since my blood pressure has remained normal, I have now reduced the Candecor to 8 or 12 mg without consulting my doctor. I measure my blood pressure every day at 3 different times, each time 3-4 times to detect any measurement errors.
Left arm, cuff device, sitting in a quiet position, legs straight, arms bent, no talking, rested, etc.
The values are STILL NORMAL. In the morning 130-140/80, during the day and in the evening 130-120/75 with fluctuations. In order not to deviate too far from the doctor's recommendation, I want to increase to 12 mg.
To do this, I split the 16 mg pill into 2 x (!!) 8 + 4 = 12 mg. IS THIS OK FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE?
Additional question: For a few days now, I have been experiencing dizziness and weakness 1-3 times a day, for a few minutes.
Could this be side effects or could it have another cause? I have been healthy for 75 years, I do endurance sports almost every day, my wife does even more sports, she used to be a competitive athlete, I eat extremely healthy, fish, vegetables, fruits, almost no alcohol, no nicotine, I am not employed, financially independent, live in my own house and I don't really know ANY diseases. Therefore, all of this is NEW to me. Regards H.W. Stuttgart
