back pain

Hello, I have a cold with a slight cough. Today I also have slight pain in my back, around the middle. What could that be? I had this before after I had to vomit, it went away. Still, I'm afraid it could be something serious. Best regards

Hello,

this could be just tension,
or "muscle soreness" from coughing,
or the beginning of the flu with back and limb pain.

You are probably afraid that it is something serious.
Of course, more serious illnesses are possible, such as pneumonia or pleurisy.
However, such illnesses are much rarer than the possibilities mentioned above.

Therefore, I assume that it is nothing serious and would like to reassure you.

My suggestion would be:
Drink plenty of fluids, take Ibuprofen or similar if needed, and if you are very uncertain, visit your general practitioner. If it gets worse only in the afternoon and you are worried, you can contact the on-call service at 116 117.

Best regards,

Dr. Schaaf
