Hello, I occasionally have pain in the middle of my back on the right side. I also suffer from reflux disease. What could it be? The kidneys? Best regards
Hello, yes, the kidneys would make themselves noticeable in the middle right side of the back. If you occasionally have pain there, it could be a chronic infection or very small stones, also known as "kidney gravel." Both of these would need to be clarified by a urologist if necessary. Reflux does not typically cause pain in the back. However, another possibility could be the gallbladder. While it typically causes pain on the front right side, in exceptional cases it can also cause pain in the back. Your primary care physician can help you with this.
Of course, changes in the spine can also cause such discomfort. The source is in the middle of the back = the spine, and the pain can be felt further away, such as on the sides. Your primary care physician can also assist you with this and may refer you to an orthopedic specialist.
Does this help you or do you have any further questions?
