Pungent smell, burning in the urethra

Hello,
just one thing upfront: personal hygiene is taken very seriously and of course carried out daily :-) Age: 26, male, 90 KG, 190 cm tall
For several months now, I have been sporadically suffering (often daily) from a strong stabbing and burning sensation in the glans / urethra. There are no problems or pain when urinating except for the "dripping at night."
Furthermore, I sometimes emit a pungent urine-like smell, which cannot be due to poor hygiene... what could it be?
A fungal infection has been ruled out by a urologist and two weeks ago I had a urethral swab done - but I have not received the results yet.
Additional question: How often and how (just water or soap or shower gel) should one wash "down there"? Thank you very much! Best regards
Good morning,
A pungent smell is typical of bacterial infections. To determine if, and if so, which germs are present, a swab was taken. Therefore, I would assume that the quickest way to a confirmed diagnosis (and targeted therapy) would be to call the urologist.
Given the long history, a chronic prostate infection could be the origin of the infectious process. I would like to refer you to two links, one written for laymen and the other for doctors.

The question of hygiene should not be taken too lightly. Washing with water, soap, shower gel, etc. is fine as long as no sensitive reactions occur.
I am happy to answer any further questions.
Best regards,
Dr. Schaaf
