I have been experiencing lower abdominal pain for a week now. Initially, I thought it was a urinary tract infection. The doctor prescribed antibiotics but they are not helping. There is blood in my urine and tests showed no bacteria. Six months ago, I had similar symptoms and was treated for a bowel inflammation with higher doses of antibiotics, which worked. However, there was no blood in my urine back then. What can I do now?

Dear questioner, please have yourself examined again, preferably with ultrasound and blood sampling. It could well be an atypical bladder or intestinal inflammation. It would be best to go to a gastroenterologist or, if you are a woman, to a gynecologist. Do you have any questions? Regards, welsch
