Storage dizziness?

Hello Dr. Welsch?,

I am currently very worried again and maybe you have some reassuring words for me.
At the beginning of this year, I experienced vertigo immediately after getting up, it didn't feel like it was related to my circulation, but rather the whole room was spinning. My therapist (I am a patient with anxiety) at the time suggested that it could be a positional vertigo, because I also experienced this dizziness at night, usually just for a few seconds. Therefore, she showed me exercises that I could do, where I should lay on her table, turn my head to the side slightly and fall to one side and then to the other.
Yesterday evening, when I wanted to put on my shoes and tilted my head down, I had a slight feeling of this vertigo again. I also experienced it when I was standing and tilted my head straight down to my chest. Full of panic, I went towards the sofa and immediately did these exercises. With each "throw" to the side, everything started spinning again, and when I straightened up, it also happened, but it only lasted seconds. I did the exercises about five times until it went away. Of course, common sense tells me that it was probably positional vertigo, but I want to ask you if it fits with my description? As a hypochondriac, I am terribly afraid that there might be a brain tumor behind it, I almost don't want to know what dizziness feels like. I am quite scared right now. I thought positional vertigo was more common in older people, but I am only 32. Is it also typical for the vertigo to occur when tilting the head forward? At the beginning of the year when it happened in the morning, it also occurred when I wanted to wash my hair upside down.... Another question, can positional vertigo be prevented by regularly doing the exercises, for example? Or can vertigo also be triggered by tension in the cervical spine? I am very tense there.
By the way, I am female, I don't take any medication.
Best regards

Hello,

Since Dr. Welsch has not responded, I am happy to help you.

Even young people can experience positional vertigo! It can actually be prevented by regularly doing these exercises. ...But a circulation problem or tension could also be the cause. In any case, exercise such as Zumba would also be beneficial for you.

A tumor-related vertigo feels completely different and can lead to neurological symptoms and unsteadiness. You can forget about that!

Best regards, Dr. Höllering
