Ramipril 5mg

I am 60 years old and female. I have been taking Ramipril 5 mg recently due to high blood pressure. Since then, I have developed a dry cough, which means something is irritating my windpipe. It was so bad that I thought I was choking. Isla Moos helps me a bit, but unfortunately the relief doesn't last long. My doctor is currently on vacation. Should I continue taking Ramipril until Monday and can I suck on Isla Moos every hour? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hello,
The irritant cough can occur as a side effect of Ramipril, unfortunately this is one of the most common side effects of this medication. Since it is not serious, except that it is very burdensome, you can continue to take Ramipril in order to not let your blood pressure rise.
It may be enough to take half a Ramipril, but I cannot prescribe medication over the internet without knowing you.
However, you should not take Isla Moos too often.
It is important to drink plenty of fluids (200ml of still water = 1 glass per hour).
Do you have any questions? I am happy to help you.
All the best and a speedy recovery!
Best regards,
Dr. K. Hamann
