Herniated disc sequestration

Hello, I have a question for an orthopedic doctor. I have sent you a report from the MRI. Could you please explain the report to me? Will surgery be necessary? Is the nerve pinched? I am experiencing pain. I am 64 years old and female. Thank you in advance.
Best regards
Hello!
Thank you for your question.
The MRI findings show a herniated disc in the area of the lowest (12th) thoracic vertebra. In this case, a portion of the damaged disc is pressing on the corresponding nerve, which exits the spine at this point from the spinal cord through the vertebra. This is the right nerve.
However, this is only the radiological findings. To determine if surgery is necessary, you should urgently consult an orthopedist, as a thorough evaluation of your specific symptoms and a physical examination are also required. Unfortunately, this question cannot be answered remotely. Presumably, a colleague has referred you for the MRI. They should be your first point of contact. If you cannot wait for an appointment with the orthopedist or if your symptoms worsen, you can also seek evaluation at a hospital with an orthopedic department. Please bring the MRI findings and preferably the images on a CD with you.
I wish you all the best!
