Tingling Burning Stabbing in the head for almost 1 year.

I have had tingling and burning pain for 11 months, which intensifies significantly with movement. Before that, I had intercostal neuralgia. MRI, CT, EEG, and cerebrospinal fluid analysis all normal. Epstein Barr T levels significantly elevated. Otherwise, everything normal. SI joint with mild arthritis, lumbar spine with some protrusions and narrowing of the neuroforamina. MS and rheumatic diseases ruled out. Psychosomatic therapy recommended, but no improvement. Mental health is also fine. I have tried acupuncture, osteopathy, neural therapy, holistic therapy, and shamanic treatment with no success. Pregabalin 2x75 mg provides slight relief. If I skip a dose, the condition becomes unbearable. Gut bacteria and mineral analysis normal. I am slowly getting desperate. My neurologist refused to perform an EMG as he believes it wouldn't explain my symptoms. Being from the medical field myself, I am at a loss. I did not have a COVID-19 infection. I am from Berlin. Perhaps you could recommend a specialist or have an idea of what it could be. Thank you.

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good evening,

If the pain worsens with movement, this, along with the tingling, suggests a myofascial pain syndrome. Triggered by muscular misalignment and tension. Later, such pains often develop into a vicious cycle of tension, pain, and frustration. The fact that you have even turned to a shaman and had your micronutrients checked (both of which do not lead to a solution) shows your desperation.

I would recommend seeking out a privately practicing orthopedist who can thoroughly examine you for blockages and misalignments. Then, learn autogenic training or at least progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobson and engage in intensive physical therapy. It is important to take active steps here, not passive ones like massage or osteopathy! With a little patience, things should improve soon.

Best regards, Dr. Gehring
