Vision and speech impairments with high blood pressure.
Hello, I have been experiencing the following symptoms for almost two years now, and no doctor has been able to help me:
I am 23 years old, male, and weigh around 120 kg at 190 cm. It is about sudden occurrences that first occurred on a normal office work day. I suddenly had trouble reading text on the computer, my field of vision mostly narrowed on the right side, and then I could only form a coherent sentence with great effort. There was no motor impairment. A few minutes later, the visual and speech disturbances subsided, and a numbness appeared first on the right side of my tongue and then on the right side of my lip. When that disappeared after a few minutes, I experienced stronger headaches for the rest of the day. The same thing happened the next day. Then about 2 months passed until the symptoms reappeared one day. Since then, I have had these "attacks" every now and then. Mostly in calm situations and very suddenly. If I am not imagining it, it has been difficult for me to concentrate since then, and apparently I misread texts more often. Sometimes I also wake up slightly confused in the morning, and a few minutes later the aforementioned numbness and headaches occur.
At some point, I went to my primary care physician. He then found significantly elevated blood pressure (sometimes well over 200). The cardiologist found nothing after ultrasound, ECG, and stress ECG. The only thing that stood out was that the blood pressure normalized under stress. Since then, I have been taking several medications: Exforge HCT 5mg/160mg/12.5mg, Opioramol 50mg, and Valsartan AL 160mg. With these medications, my values are usually around 155/87 and a pulse of 60-70. The attacks still occur, sometimes twice in three days, or only once in two months. Before the examinations, I used to do endurance sports regularly (3x/week). Apparently, this had no influence on the values or symptoms.
In addition to the cardiological examination, an MRI of the skull and an MRI of the kidney vessels were performed. No abnormalities were found. Blood and urine were also examined by the nephrologist. I was only advised to reduce my salt intake, otherwise there were no abnormalities.
I would be extremely grateful for your response to this question!
