Ask a doctor on the topic of Internal medicine

Question to a cardiologist.
I am 61 years old and female.
In the morning, I take 1 tablet of L-Thyrox Hexal 75 and one hour later
1 Atacand 8mg. In the evening, I have to use Latanoprost comp. eye drops.
Could it be that the medications are not compatible since I have been experiencing heart skips at night for about 2 weeks? I visited the cardiologist this week and had tests done, including ECG, echo, Holter monitor and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring. I will receive the results in two weeks. Oh, and I also occasionally take Iberogast. Thank you in advance for your message.

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good morning,
I am a physician for internal and general medicine and I am happy to respond to you because I have trained doctors on Atacand as a lecturer. This does not slow down or affect heart rhythm, but your eye drops do because they contain a beta blocker. However, it does not cause any serious interruptions, so you can continue taking both medications. Please have your thyroid levels checked. An underactive thyroid can lead to rhythm disturbances.
I wish you all the best!

Kind regards, Dr. Frauke Höllering
