Inner restlessness, trembling, heart palpitations after eating.
Hello,
About 6 months ago, I started experiencing severe digestive problems. During that time, I was unable to digest almost anything for about 4-6 weeks, regardless of the type of food (I kept a food diary with gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.). I experienced diarrhea shortly after eating. Visits to the doctor led to a colonoscopy, which did not reveal any significant findings and resulted in a diagnosis of "irritable bowel syndrome". Overall, the symptoms related to my bowel have improved, so I can say that my digestion is back to normal. However, with the improvement in bowel activity, some other symptoms have appeared:
After a meal (I have tried everything), I experience inner restlessness, shaky hands, chest pressure, and a strong pulse (not elevated, 70-85). I can hear my heartbeat especially when lying down, which makes it very difficult for me to fall asleep! The longer it has been since I ate, the weaker the symptom! I have no symptoms in the morning when I wake up! In my opinion, it is directly related to food intake! Nevertheless, I have made an appointment with a cardiologist, but it is not for a few weeks. My question is: should I be worried about these symptoms, or can they all be attributed to "limited bowel activity"? Is there a medication that my primary care physician can prescribe in the meantime?
Thank you for your response.
