Alcohol breakdown not conclusive.
I have a problem understanding a value from a blood test. It concerns the alcohol concentration in the blood. Throughout the evening, I drank 6 half-liter beers and 4 shots of 4cl each. According to the Widmark formula, I only come up to 1.15 ‰, but the blood test showed 2.45 ‰. I believe the value is correct, but why can't I understand it? Did I calculate absorption or metabolism incorrectly? Without these two values, I actually come to 2.45 ‰ (approximately).
Amount consumed:
6 x 0.5l beer with 4.8% = 3000ml x (4.8 / 100) x 0.8 = 115.2 grams of alcohol
4 x 4cl shots with 35% = 160ml x (35 / 100) x 0.8 = 44.8 grams of alcohol
Total: 160 grams of alcohol
160 grams of alcohol / (body weight 84kg x body fluid ratio 0.71) = ‰: 2.68
Absorption: 15%
Time from first beer to blood sample: 8 hours
Metabolism: 0.1 grams per kg body weight per hour (84kg) = 67.2 grams
Therefore:
160 grams total amount - 15% absorption (24 grams) - metabolism after 8 hours (67.2 grams) are 68.8 grams of alcohol at the time of blood sample.
Therefore:
68.8 grams of alcohol / (body weight 84kg x body fluid ratio 0.71) = 1.15‰
How can it be that 2.45 ‰ were measured?
