extreme thirst for food
Hello, I am in my mid-20s and have been suffering from cognitive and muscular complaints since my puberty. Extensive investigations have not provided any answers. In addition, I have the above-mentioned symptom and hope that it may provide you with an indication of a possible cause, as I have not described it in such detail to any doctor before, and hope to be taken seriously, no matter how strange it may seem.
I experience extreme thirst after eating, to the point where I have to drink about 4 liters a day. If I don't drink enough, I become very exhausted and the intense thirst remains. The extreme thirst is only triggered by eating and is independent of the salt content of the meal. Even meals like plain rice or potatoes lead to this intense thirst.
Another unusual sign is that if I get through this several-hour phase without drinking (depending on the amount of food), the thirst normalizes.
Diabetes has already been ruled out and a thirst test yielded normal results. My urine output is also normal according to the amount of fluid intake. I rule out a psychogenic cause. All common blood values are normal.
I hope that my descriptions can provide you with some insight and hints on possible causes, and how I should proceed further.
