Good evening! I am in the 18th week of pregnancy and it looks like I will have to have another caesarean section!! That's not a problem so far, except that I am naturally afraid:((( but more than that, I am afraid of an amniotic fluid embolism and pulmonary embolism :((( I read about it by chance, and it was terrible:((( I am so panicked :(( best regards
Dear inquirer,
The risk is definitely there, but in the hands of a clinic that does this frequently, the risk is low. Please talk to your treating gynecologist. The statistical risk is somewhere between 1:80,000 to 1:100,000 for an amniotic fluid embolism.
I also care for patients before surgeries, and they always tell me about their fear of not waking up from anesthesia. I have seen a large number of surgeries with such complications. I tell the patients that it is much more dangerous to drive a car or cross the street than to undergo such a routine surgery.
I hope I could help you a little, do you have any questions?
All the best for you and the child... C.Welsch
