Hello,
I am 18 years old and I want to go to the gynecologist. But now I am afraid to go there because I have never been to the gynecologist before. Do you know a good gynecologist in Varel or can you give me some tips?
Thank you, Sabina
Hello Sabina,
I would like to try to give you some tips.
First of all, it is completely natural that I believe every woman has a queasy feeling, especially the first time, because you know that the most intimate part, which you don't show to anyone else, will ultimately be examined.
So what can you do?
1. Ask yourself if it would be easier for you if someone accompanied you. (Mother, friend, boyfriend...) If so, simply express your wish and say that you would feel more secure if they accompanied you.
2. Perhaps make an appointment for a consultation with your chosen gynecologist first, and then schedule an examination appointment later. This way, you can simply feel if there is a connection and trust, and if you get along well with the doctor's personality. Unfortunately, no matter how beautiful the website is, you simply have to feel it in person. (And if it doesn't work out, you can cancel the second appointment and go to another gynecologist)
3. Just admit that you are a little scared or nervous. I believe every gynecologist will understand that and perform the examination very gently.
The normal visual and tactile examination doesn't hurt, if you are healthy, it's just completely unfamiliar.
4. There is no one tip or best gynecologist, because every woman is so different in their preferences. Some find it easier if there is casual conversation. Others prefer that there is no or minimal conversation during the examination, etc. Just think about what you would prefer, and simply talk about it. Then everything will be fine.
With warm regards, Dr. R. C. Berg
