Functionality of the uterus after years of Chlamydia infection
Hello,
thank you for the opportunity to ask a question! I (36 years old) tested positive for Chlamydia at the cervix during a visit to the gynecologist. Since I have not had any sexual intercourse for 4 years, it seems to be an infection that I have had for years without being treated. In the last 8 years, I have had 4 different types of intrauterine devices (both copper and hormonal), so an infection could easily have spread to the uterus and fallopian tubes. According to my information, such an untreated infection can lead to a dysfunction of the fallopian tubes. Since I still want to have children, I am very interested to know if (if the fallopian tubes were bypassed through artificial insemination) an untreated Chlamydia infection for years could reduce the likelihood of a fertilized egg implanting in the uterus, or if the likelihood of implantation is not reduced.
Thank you for your response!
