contraceptive failure

My partner and I had a contraception accident yesterday evening (28.06.2016 at around 7pm) (condom broke). This morning (29.06.2016, around 8am) she had her period as usual and then in the afternoon (29.06.2016 at 1pm) she also took the emergency contraceptive pill. How likely is it in this case that she might get pregnant?

Dr. med. Frauke Gehring

Good day,

Since your period has started, the ovulation at the time of your contraceptive mishap was already too long ago to allow for fertilization. The "morning-after pill" also prevented fertilization in case ovulation had still occurred during intercourse (which can happen).

Therefore, pregnancy is highly unlikely (it would require a medical miracle).

Sincerely, Dr. Höllering
